Part 1: Newbism - Stechen
How did you learn about Infantry?
I heard about Infantry through a buddy of mine on IRC who had gotten himself addicted. He tried to get me to download the thing a few times, and then, in the end, I finally did. Kind of dull, I know. My discovery of Infantry was not via double agents, nuclear war, a meeting with the president ... :(

When did you first play Infantry?
Sometime after the beginning. After Alpha, before Sony. I'm horrible with remembering dates - even years. TJO was still up and about.

Your first alias was?
Stechen. It's always been my primary alias.

Which zone did you play first?
Hmm. The Journey Out was the first zone I tried.

What was your impression when you logged-in for the first time?
Hehe. First impression was something along the lines of disgust. Despite my protests, everyone just kept killing me. ;) and Frustrating.

What were your first words in the chats?
It was TJO, and I seem to recall asking how to buy the other classes.

What was your first class in TJO?
The first class that was available, down at the bottom of the totem pole of the experience pool.

How long did it take you to learn how to shoot? To strafe?
Shooting was easy. Press and hold 'Ctrl' and, amazingly, bullets started to hit the walls. Never people that early, but walls were constantly being 0wned by Stechen. Strafing took me, like, six monthes.

Who was your first friend, and how did you meet him/her?
I'll ignore the obvious answer to that (which would be neo, the guy who introduced me to the game) and say Greenrolo.com. I didn't bother trying to be friendly in chat for some time, and it was around the time of BBX that I met Greenie.

Who was your first enemy, and how did you meet him/her?
Enemy. Hrm. I didn't really start to keep track of who people were until BBX. I despised Paras for his constant one-upping of me in the BBX ranks. And Refkar. Damn you both. :)

When did you realize that Infantry was worth playing?
After I finally advanced to the next class in TJO, and actually started to be able to kill people. Very exhilirating. Some TJO games were VERY organized, as well, and it was fun being apart of one of the teams that seemed to have a dedicated leader who would actually strategize.

What else do you remember best of your first days?
Flagging in CTF and TJO. Picking up flags, or changing their colour, really got the adrenaline pumping. Somehow. Don't make fun.
