Interviewee: pet virus
Interviewer: Jack English (aka Captain Harloch)
Date: 7th December, 1999 (mid-Beta test)
Reason/Significance: Pet virus is considered by many to be amongst the best of the utility players who can play any character like a pro. Great read for those in need of offensive tactics.
DATE FIRST PLAYED INFANTRY:
Couple weeks before the alpha, around febuary/march or something. The pre-alpha.
COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE:
1550, but somebody hacked it so it's not used by me much anymore.
I run Fusion with Yazour: http://www.gamehacker.com/squads/fusion

FAV CHARACTER TYPES:
1. Jump Trooper (sorry, I only like the Jump Trooper)
FOR EACH FAV CHARACTER TYPE, NAME YOUR ULTIMATE WEAPONS SETUP, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT DAMAGE, RLOAD, RECOIL, TERRAIN, RESTRICTIONS AND ENCUMBRENCE. AFTER EACH, NAME THE REASONS WHY YOU THINK THESE SETUPS ARE BEST:
1. Jump Trooper
DeathBoard, Electron Beamer, Dual ShotGuns, Combat Suit /w IDF Generator, Assault Rifle, Suit SuperCharge
This isn't the best, but I find it works great and doesn't make me look like a flaming CAW user. The IDF stops the pesky Assault Rifle shots real good, same with any other Slug weapon (which is the most popular type of weapons). The electron beamer is to scoot players away from me if they get too close (I am Canadian, I need my 5 foot privacy room). The Combat Suit doesn't do anything, but it just looks good in my inventory. The death board, of course, is to try and outrun the shots that fly my way. The SuperCharge is to help me get my teleport suit recharged incase I need to warp away.
FOR EACH FAV CHARACTER TYPE, GIVE WHAT YOU CONSIDER THE 3 BEST TACTICS THOSE CHARACTERS CAN USE:
1. Jump Trooper
This guy can run away fast. That's all I really use the Jump Trooper for.
NAME ANYTHING DIFFERENT ABOUT YOUR KEYBOARD CONFIG THAT BETTER YOUR GAMEPLAY:
I'm using the default HG settings. I tinkered with my layout in the alpha and nothing I liked.
HOW IMPORTANT TO YOUR GAMEPLAY IS STRAFING:
It's priceless when you try and strafe on a deathboard, but you can't. Then some guy whacks you with a grenade and says how skilled he is.
HOW IMPORTANT TO YOUR GAMEPLAY ARE GRENADES?
Frag grenades are great for killing yourself. Rep grenades are great for those guys who mine doorway.
HOW IMPORTANT TO YOUR GAMEPLAY ARE PORTALS:
Well, if Portals were still in the game, I'd say they're extremely useful for stealing the enemy flag then warping back. But I'd much rather somebody else steal the flag so I don't have to worry about people shooting at me.
WHAT DO YOU AIM TO GET BY PLAYING INFANTRY?
A good time.
