Part 1: Newbism - Eikron
How did you learn about Infantry?
I was browsing the web for online games one day (I play them in my spare time, when I'm bored), and came across a website called www.mpogd.com. I knew about it over a year ago, WAY before it became as popular as it is now. After trying a few games on there (like Dragon Court), I eventually came across Infantry. The rest, as they say, is history.

When did you first play Infantry?
Can't remember the date exactly. A few months after the beta launched. Maybe October or November of '99.

Your first alias was?
Eikron

Which zone did you play first?
I started in The Arena.

What was your impression when you logged-in for the first time?
I thought the game had terrible graphics and repetitive game play. Basically, I thought it sucked ass and only played for about 10 minutes. I was even further irked about the huge download, and the 15 minute registration period you had to sit through (this was before Sony).

What were your first words in the chats?
Probably something like, "Hahaha, this game sucks!"

What was your first class?
I played the psionic class. I outfitted my psionic with mad psionic bullets!

How long did it take you to learn how to shoot? To strafe?
It took me about 5 seconds to learn how to shoot. Since I always check the keyboard config and read the help files before playing any complex games, I knew how to strafe from the get-go. (Taught myself how to circle strafe too!)

Who was your first friend, and how did you meet him/her?
A guy called Reveille. We had played on a number of teams with each other, as well as with the other "Rev" guys. That is to say, Revolver and Revenge.

Who was your first enemy, and how did you meet him/her?
I've never really had any enemies, except maybe Yankee. I don't have anything against Yankee anymore, or even any feelings of animosity towards him, but I guess we're "technically" enemies (for God knows what reason). We basically don't get along. I met Yankee like most people do, which was sitting in the spec chat of Public1, in CTF.

When did you realize that Infantry was worth playing?
When I stopped taking meals for a period of three weeks, and was force fed nutrients directly into bloodstream via IV? Okay, I was never /that/ addicted, but I guess it just started to grow on me. If I had to choose a moment, it'd probably be when I scored my first kill in The Arena. There's something about that red text...

What else do you remember best of your first days?
Probably how much of an awful newbie I was. I have fond memories of myself running around in early CTF with a plasma pistol, thinking that individual pistol hits got me experience and cash. Needless to say, I didn't get my first Assault Rifle for a LONG time.
