ENERGY& HIT POINTS

Each player starts off with his own battery of energy and a pre set charge rate. Energy is used to fire some weapons and also acts as a sheild in the game. Your current energy level is located in the upper left of the screen as indiacted in the screen shot. When you fire a weapon such as a laser pistol your energy will go down a small amount. Constant firing of energy weapons will reduce your energy to zero.

Energy also acts as a sheild. The amount of energy you have in relation to the maximum energy is expressed as a %. For example if your maximum is 500 energy then if your energy goes down to 250 then your sheilds will be at 50%. This % is the amount of damage that is stopped from being passed on to your characters HIT POINTS.

HITPOINTS is a represenation of how much damage your body has actually taken. For this test everyones hit points will start at 30. in the full game it will be based off your health statistic.

Some weapons are capable of bypassing sheilds and other weapons only attack the players sheilds.

ENCUMBERANCE

Put simply -  the more you carry the slower you move.

Each player can carry upto 15kg before it starts to affect his speed. Once you reach 30Kg then you will be unable to move. (Later this will be based off the players Strength attribute).

Vehicles also have an encumberance level which can be higher and lower than the players. For example.

-The M1 jetpack can allow the player to carry 30Kg before it slows down.

-The Hoverboard starts to slow down when the player is carrying only 10kg

Thus the jetpack is great for people who want to be human tanks but the hoverboard is best suited for those who want to be a fast lightly armed skirmisher.

All of these stats can be examined by clicking the INFO button brought up after clicking on a vehicle.

BOUNTY

A simple enough concept for ex-subspace players. Your bounty is the amount of points someone gets for killing you. your bounty goes up gradually the longer you stay alive and increases every time you get a kill.

Assists. If you are near an enemy when he is killed by a teamate you get a small amount of points as an 'assist'. this helps get rid of some of the frustration of stolen kills.

INFO

When clicking on an object or vehicle be it in your inventory area or on the game field you will now be given the chance to get INFO on the object. If you choose info your message area will be filled up with a description of the object complete with statistics.

To get rid of the info either hit enter or click on the CHAT tab on the message bar. if you ever want to rexamine the info you jjust stored then click on the INFO tab of the message bar and it will come back.

GAMEPLAY TIPS &TRICKS

This version is different from 24 in that you are now limited in how much stuff you can pick up. Successful tactics include.

1.) Know the map.

Prize hiding is not random. Certain weapons only appear after certain conditions are met. Most weapons will re appear in the same area so it pays to know where to go to find the AT-Rocket or mines for example. Learning the map placement will help a lot.

2.) What to drive?

There are a few vehicles that appear on the map. Players should get a feel for each vehicle and see which one suits his playing style. Do you want to extra weaponry of the Buggy, the speed of the hoverboard, the carrying capacity of the jetpack, the protection of the bunker or do you value the ability of the man on foot to get into cover quickly and roll out of trouble?

3.) What weapons?

Players will not be in a position to carry all the weapons he wants. Players should pick a weapon he feels comfortable with and try and find an ideal 'load" that he likes. This will help prevent the panic of rummageing through your back pack during combat.

4.) Ammo.

Players should not be fooled into thinking that just becuase a weapon uses only energy it is better than one that uses ammo. Remember when you fire an energy weapon you are effectivley making yourself weaker. Quite often a good old fashioned reveolver can be more useful than a laser rifle.

5.) Styles of play

Initially you will get into a lot of knife fights where you get in close to kill an opponent. This is all well and good but try experimenting with some other tactics using the SHIFT UP and SHIFt DOWN sniper modes. You might find the results rather satisifying.

A FINAL WORD

Obviously this rev is just part of the action game. We in no way want to present it as 'this is how the game will play". however testers can do us a good favour by bringing up things that annoy them and submitting these reports to [email protected]

We also take the issue of confidentiality seriously, you have each been assigned an account, please dont share it or leak out information about the game, its tempting we know but in accepting this test you agree to strict confidentiality. Thus ends my legalize bollox. ;)

Above all have a good time.
